Help/FAQ.
Can I buy the sculpture/bag/pendant somewhere? I don't want to wait.
The aluminum sculptures, bags and pendants are made in batches. They are limited edition pieces and cannot be guaranteed to be in stock. Like all great art, they take time and can't be bought in any store! All gifts can take 4 to 6 weeks for delivery.
Can I buy some lights and decide who to give them to later?
Yes! You can return to Your Lights and see which lights you have already gifted, and which you have yet to give. You can give them at your leisure.
How do I do this? I want to get a photo up!
First choose your light using the bridge interface, and add it to your cart. Click "Checkout" and decide which level you want to donate at. Once you've chosen you'll be taken to Amazon payments and you'll pay for your item. Once you return, your light will appear on the "Your Lights" page. There you can upload a photo, name your light, etc.
Can I remain anonymous?
Absolutely! All patrons can leave their profile blank, or use a pseudonym. We just ask that your photo and profile name be respectful, please see our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.
Browser Compatibility
The Bay Lights functions on Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Internet Explorer 9 and greater. While viewable on iOS devices, the experience is not ideal and is recommended that you use a laptop/desktop for the best experience.
Why can't I have an actual light?
Once the LEDs come down off the bridge, Illuminate the Arts will do it's best to see that the materials used are reused in the spirit of The Bay Lights. The Bay Lights are a piece of public art for everyone to share, and we hope that it will live on for decades in various forms.
Who is Zero1 and why do they show up on my bank statement?
Zero1 - The Art and Technology Network are the fiscal sponsor of The Bay Lights. They are a 501c3, so a portion of your Gift of Light is tax deductible. If you buy the $50 gift, the entire $50 is tax deductible. If you buy the $100 gift, $90 of that is tax deductible. If you buy a $295 gift, $145 is tax deductible. If you buy a $300 gift, $175 is tax deductible. If you buy the $500 gift, $400 of that is tax deductible.
Can I donate more?
Please do! This is an $8 million project and most of the money has come from generous Bay Area residents who want to see an amazing work of art and technology in their midst. You can donate whatever feels comfortable, but $50 to $500 are the minimums to receive the premiums provided. Donations are tax deductible!
How do I get a certificate?
In the "Your Lights" section the "Certificate" link is under "Given", click that link and a personalized certificate will open which you can print.
I gave a light but the person I gave it to didn't get the email.
Have them check their spam folder. If it's still not there, go to "Your Lights" and click the "Resend Email" button.
